Pre-Algebra FAQ

What is Pre-Algebra?
Pre-Algebra is commonly used to refer to a Math course aimed at Middle School students and is taught in the 7th or 8th grade. The purpose of this course is to prepare students for Algebra, which is usually taught in high school.

Why Pre-Algebra?
Students often have difficulty with high school Math as they progress through courses in Algebra, Geometry, Calculus and Statistics. One of the main reasons for this difficulty is the prevalence of Math skill gaps among students. The Pre-Algebra course is a great too to help fill any Math skill gaps and get students ready for high school Math.

What do students learn in Pre-Algebra?

The main objective of Pre-Algebra is to prepare students to be successful when they take the Algebra course in High School. Students learn a variety of concepts like numbers, fractions, decimals, square roots, and equations. Mastering the topics in Pre-Algebra will give students an edge as they move on to high school Math.

What are consecutive angles?

In contrast to consecutive interior angles, consecutive exterior angles are the pair of angles on the same side of the transversal but outside the parallel lines, and it turns out they are also supplementary!
